Memorial Day Weekend

This past weekend we celebrated Memorial Day... we had made big plans to go camping up in Sterling with a group of friends, but after checking the weather forecast to find that it was Raining and a high of 60 we decided to postpone the camping trip until July and hang around town! Although we were really looking forward to camping we still had a good time! We started the weekend off with Blake's last soccer game for the spring season! Ryan and I were really looking forward to this, the season was a bust to begin with because of all of the cancelled games due to the weather, so we were happy it was finally over! The parents really like the way Ryan coached the team as did the children! One of the little girls on the team "Amanda" went up to Ryan and said "your the best Coach" and she gave him a hug, a lot of the parents asked if he was going to coach summer season, but Ryan had to regretfully tell them no as Blake will be participating in T-Ball for the summer season. After the soccer game Ryan and I had 4 BBQ's to go to..so needless to say we were pretty busy and filling up on delicious food everywhere! We first went to my co worker Gregg's BBQ, we had a lot of fun there and really enjoyed ourselves but had to cut out after spending 2 hours there so we could head to my co worker Chris's house... we got there pretty late but stayed long enough to have a braut and some home made beer! After Chris's house we headed over to Mandy's house and hung out with all of our friends, we watched the Nuggets play and munched on yummy food...and then we ended the evening at Ryan's buddy/partners house to watch the UFC fights (actually for Ryan to watch the fights and for me to eat the delicious fruit cookie Jamie made) Thanks Jamie...it was awesome!

Sunday we met up with my Cousin Lindsay and her family who happen to be in town for a Graduation party! I hadn't seen my cousin in at least 2 to 3 years so it was really nice catching up with her and watching the kids play together! I wish the weather had been nicer so we could have done something fun while they were in town, but it rained so it squashed any plans we had for the outdoors... so instead we met up with them for lunch then had them over to our house so the kids could play and we could visit...we happened to get in a ball pit fight, that was crazy but it was pretty fun! I was sad to see them go, but they had more family to visit on their short trip to Colorado!

On Monday Memorial Day we had made plans to hang out at Cherry Creek and do the whole boating thing since we had to cancel our camping trip, but wouldn't you know it...it was cold and rainy... Kelli still put her boat in the water and DJ, Richard and Kenny all got a chance to wakeboard before the storm completely moved in forcing them off the water! Ryan, Jenny, Dalacie, the Kids and I...had fun on the beach building a sand castle...so I guess it wasn't a complete bust! After getting rained out at the lake we went to lunch at Subway then came home for a nice afternoon nap listening to the rain fall, and got caught up on some house work!

Brooklyn's 1st Birthday!

Thursday May 21st was Brooklyn's 1st Birthday! To help her celebrate the big "1" Ryan, Blake and I took Brooklyn to the Downtown Aquarium! Brooklyn had never been before, and I think she really enjoyed the place! After spending a good hour and a half there we then went to Senor Rics for lunch followed by a walk around Toys R Us, and then we came home for a well needed Nap! Who knew turning one could be so exhausting! After our nap we took Brooklyn out to dinner...because she is too little to decide where she wanted to go, we asked Blake where we should go and to no surprise he said "Rosies Diner" that's where we take Bake every year for his Birthday Dinner! We had a great family day, and very much enjoyed celebrating Brooklyn's 1st birthday with her!

Brooklyn's Birthday Sundae

Friday May 22nd we took Brooklyn in for her 1 year well baby check up! She weighed
19lbs 7 oz and was 29 1/2 inches long, this puts her in the 25% for her weight and 50% for her height. The Dr said she looked happy and healthy. He gave her the last of her 1st year shots which included 3 shots, Brooklyn was not happy... I actually felt really bad for her, she was just drinking away at her bottle and then "Bam" they stuck her with 2 needles at once, she was so upset she threw her bottle and spit her milk out at the nurses, that part was actually kind of funny! She won't go back until November when she get's her Flu shot!

We also took Brooklyn in for her very first Dental appt.on 05/18/09. The Dentist looked at all 5 of her teeth. She actually did better than I had expected! They gave Brooklyn a floride treatment flossed her teeth, and told us what things we can do to ensure she keeps her teeth clean & healthy!

Brooklyn's 1st Birthday Party

On Saturday May 16th we celebrated Brooklyn's 1st Birthday by throwing her a Birthday Party! Although her actual birthday is May 21st we decided to have her party the weekend before her birthday due to Memorial Day weekend falling the weekend of her actual birthday! I did a Cupcake themed party, and had lots of fun planning her party around that theme! She was so cute, and really seemed to enjoy all the attention she was getting as well as all of the nice presents that she received from all of our friends and family! We had fun activities for both adults and kids. I had a polaroid guest book, where the guests took pictures of themselves with a polaroid camera and then wrote a special note to Brooklyn (thanks to Fielding for the camera and Suyzel for making the guest book) I thought it would be a great keepsake for Brooklyn to have on her 18th birthday! We had the adults play a guessing game, I put pictures on the wall of some of the major milestones in Brooklyn's life ranging from the day we brought her home from the hospital to when she started crawling and walking, the guests had to guess the correct age of Brooklyn for each milestone and the person with the most correct guesses won! Jamie Moreland ended up winning the game, she had 5 correct guesses....she really had her mommy radar on!!! For the kiddos we played Pin the Candle on the cupcake! The children were blind folded and the child who got the candle pinned closest to the"1" on the cupcake won a prize, our nephew Robert ended up wining that game! And lastly we had a cupcake pull string pinata for the kids which was filled with tattoos, gum, candee and biter biscuits for the younger ones like TJ & Brooklyn! We served a delicious Giant cupcake filled with rasberry bavarian cream and ice cream! Brooklyn got her own "smash" cake and it was a good thing, because she demolished that thing! I couldn't get it to her fast enough, she kept trying to pull if off the table once I sat her in her chair! She had a great 1st birthday celebration, and we look forward to celebrating many more with our little cupcake!

Balloons

Brooklyn has discovered Balloons, and boy does she love them! We had bought her a couple of balloons for her birthday pictures, and she absolutely loved them! She carries them everywhere she goes! Ryan tried to lay her down for a nap last Friday, and she wouldn't have it, she didn't want him to take the Balloons away from her, so Ryan had to actually tie them to her crib so that she could see them and hold them! When I came home from work, she was just walking up and down the hallway carrying her balloons...its almost ridiculous...I mean we even had to take them with us to Blake's soccer game!! But I must admit, she's super cute carrying them around!
