Blake's 2nd Soccer Season

Spring soccer season has been pretty much a bust...with the past five weekends being rainy the majority of Blake's games have been cancelled. So far out of 5 games Blake has played 2. Although he has had a lot of fun playing, and he has improved so much from last year to this year...it's so crazy to see what a year can do for a child! Blake has 2 regular scheduled games left and 3 make up games before the season ends, we will be signing him up for Summer T-Ball next!

Milestones

Yesterday Brooklyn reached another major milestone in her little life, she took her very first steps all by herself!! We are so proud of her, and can't believe our little girl is walking all by herself now! She is so cute, now that she knows how to walk we can't get her to sit down, we catch her getting more brave and walking a bit further each time she attempts it... we even caught her walking from the living room all the way to the kitchen, she stumbled a little along the way but caught her balance and made it all the way all on her own! Dad's Wedding

So my dad finally took the plung and on Thursday April 16th he married his girlfriend of 6 years. They had a quaint little ceremony at the Aurora Justice Center that was perfomed by a Judge, following that was a nice dinner at McCabes with Dad,Maureen, her dad and her sister and 4 out of the 5 of us kids (Chris couldn't get off of work) as well as a couple of their really close friends. It was bitter sweet for me... I was happy to see my dad so happy, yet sad to see that a chapter in his life that included my mom had come to a close, and a new life for him was beginning! The Wedding festivies concluded on Saturday evening at the Sheabeen Pub where they had their reception! It was a lot of fun and good to see all of their friends and family there congratulating them on their new life together!

Easter 2009

Ryan, the kids and I had a wonderful Easter Celebration! This Easter was Brooklyn's last first holiday, and Blake's 4th Easter. To celebrate we attended the 9:00am mass at Our Lady Loreto Catholic Church, after church we went to Ryan's parents house to celebrate with his side of the family! The kiddos did an Easter egg hunt and then we sat around the table and enjoyed a delicious meal! We left his parents house and headed home to prepare for our Easter celebration with my side of the family. We made a delicious dinner which consisted of a Sprial Ham, green bean casserole, baked beans, and dinner rolls, my sister made a potatoe bake, and Ken's parents brought a yummy cherry cheesecake and brownies. We had a pretty full house, which is just the way we like it! All of my siblings were present with the exception of Candee who had to work a double shift at the airport. My dad came, as well as Kenny's parents, sister and niece, and we were also fortunate to celebrate with good friends of ours Kelli & Suyzel and Suyzel's two kids Isela & Art. Although we had a busy day, we had a great celebration!

Dying Easter Eggs

The weekend leading up to Easter was a really busy weekend for our family!I knew that we had a busy weekend ahead so we decided to dye our Easter eggs Friday night! I invited Jen & Ken over to help Ryan and I decorate the eggs and build a Ginger Bread Easter Bunny house! Blake had so much fun coloring the eggs this year and I think his favorite part was eating the candies from the Easter Bunny House! Ryan helped us color the eggs but then had to leave to go to work so Ken and Jen stayed to help build the bunny house! This was our first time building a ginger bread house but we had so much fun, and will most likely make a tradition of it!

Saturday was supposed to be Blake's first soccer game for the Spring Season, actually the weekend before was supposed to be his first game but it got cancelled due to the weather... anyways right after we arrived at the soccer field the wind started to pick up and brought with it the rain, Blake's team played for about 20 minutes before the kids were soaking wet and cold, so they cancelled the rest of the game...I just watched the forecast and this Saturday isn't looking good either (this will be the last time I sign him up for spring sports) after the bust on the soccer game we went to breakfast with Jen, Ken and my dad! Following Breakfast the YMCA was hosting a Easter Egg hunt and Festival. They had a jumping castle and arts and crafts for the kids to do...as well as a Visit from the Easter Bunny! Blake had lots of fun in the jumping castle as and he made out with a ton of Easter Eggs!
When we finished up at the Festival we headed home so Ryan could get some sleep...he had worked the night before and been up for 22 straight hours and needed his rest before heading out to the Rockies game! Brooklyn and I had a great mother/dauther evening while the boys were at the Rockies game..it was much needed time together!

This past Saturday Ryan took both his dad and son to watch Blake's very first Rockies game! It was so neat to see the 3 generations of Burke boys going to watch an all american sport together! Blake was so excited to be spending the evening with his two favorite people, his Dad and Granddad! They started out with Granddad coming over and picking them up and then heading over to the 9 mile light rail station where they took the train downtown to Coors Field. Once they got there Blake insisted that he have a Hot Dog, Popcorn, Cotton Candy and Soda Pop...to which Ryan and Granddad granted each request! The Boys really enjoyed the game even though the Rockies lost to the Phillies. Ryan said it reminded him of the time his Dad and Granddad went to a game together! I thought it was pretty cool that History was repeating itself with another generation!
When Blake got home I asked him how he liked his first Rockies game and told me "Mom I had fun, but I didn't see any rocks" I laughed and told him that the baseball players were the Rocks" He still didn't quite get it but, I am hoping after a few more games he'll understand that Rockies aren't rocks!!!

Ryan's 29th Birthday Party

Today we celebrated Ryan's last birthday before he hits the big 30! We started the day off having friends and family over to our house for some yummy food and drinks, after liquoring up we headed North to a place in Thornton called JumpStreet! In case you've never been or heard of it, it's a warehouse full of trampolines.... it was so much fun we played an hour and 20 minutes of Trampoline Dodgeball! Ryan had a great birthday and thanks to all of you who came and celebrated with us!

Easter Portraits

Yesterday I took the kids in to have their Easter Portraits taken as well as Brooklyn's 10 month photos done! I loved how they turned out, of course I am a little partial!!! Enjoy!

Sippy Cup

As I mentioned in an earlier post "Just another sign she's growing up" Brooklyn has yet again tried something new, and has proven yet again, she's growing up! On Monday Ryan and I introduced Brooklyn to the "Sippy Cup" nothing annoys me more than a toddler walking around with a bottle...we decided to give Brooklyn a sippy cup to start getting her used to it, so that by the time she reached her 1st birthday she would be ready to be weined off the bottle...much to our surprise...she knew exactly what to do with that thing, it was like 2nd nature for her! I was so proud and yet sad all at the same time...My little baby is turning into my little girl!

Sunday was a pretty busy day for us! It started out with Ryan getting off of work early morning Sunday and meeting up with his dad and brother at the gun range to shoot their dad's new pistol that his brothers had gotten him for Xmas, after that we headed over to the Zepeda's for their son TJ's dedication. TJ looked so handsome in his little suit, we were glad we got to witness his special day! After spending a little over an hour there, we left and hit the highway to FT. Collins to visit our friends Nick and Melissa and their little boy Evan. I wish we had a little more time to spend with them, by the time we had left Art & Suyzel's and got to Ft. Collins it was already after 4:00, so we were there long enough to check out their newly finished family room and catch some dinner... dinner would have been really nice had Brooklyn been on her best behavior, instead she screamed through most of dinner...other than the evening being rushed we had a great time with them, we realized that next time we will definitely have to leave earlier in the day so we can spend more time with them!

Tonight we went to dinner at the Blue Bonnet to celebrate Kelli's 32nd birthday! Kelli was joined with 17 of her closest friends & family! We did a pretty good job of embarrassing her by singing extremely loud when they brought out the birthday sopapilla! We had a great evening celebrating with Kelli....Happy Birthday!
